Clean

Source

I love when my apartment is clean, but I hate to waste time on weekends cleaning. After being in the office all week all I want to do is spend some time with my friends, read a book, or work on something for fun.
But after two months of living here I’m having the same problem in my current apartment that I have had in every space I’ve ever lived in. No amount of dusting, vacuuming, or  windexing ever seems to make my apartment feel truly clean. And if I’m home I can’t relax if I feel like the place is a mess.

It’s not that my apartment is dirty. None of the surfaces are sticky, there’s no pet hair all over, and I have zero tolerance for bad smells, but my issue is that there is a lot of visual clutter. So on Sunday morning when I stumble out of the bedroom I find myself fighting the impulse to grab the nearest hefty bag and just toss it all.

I’ve fallen in love with containers. If I can spend 10 minutes picking things up and putting them away I feel so much better. But here’s the thing, away means out of sight, or at least corralled. I hate to have million of things about making my living room, kitchen, or bathroom feel busy.

Here’s the dilemma, containers can make my apartment look busy too. And without having a ton of space to begin with (but trust me we really have more than enough space) the last thing I want to do is make the apartment feel crowded.

So, who’s got awesome storage solutions they’d like to share? Please help a girl out, because when you start looking at your book shelf thinking – why on earth do I keep books – it’s really time to check yourself. Why wouldn't I keep the books?
