On Sept. 1st HB and I had officially moved into our new apartment. I don’t know if this happens to everyone else, but at the time I came down with a purge bug. Folks I became enamored with minimalist design blogs it was so pervasive. I wouldn’t typically say I am disgusted by the amount of stuff I have, but in the few days after moving in I realized there was a lot here I could live without. Enough to fill my entire trunk it turns out.
So I did what anyone does when you have useful things you are no longer using. I packed everything up to take to Goodwill and loaded it into my trunk.
And there it sat.
For a month.
That’s a month of putting the groceries in the back seat of the car because they didn’t fit in the trunk.
A month of wondering “Where is my umbrella?”on rainy mornings only to remember, “Oh that’s right, it’s under the stuff in the trunk.” There were a lot of bad hair days in September.
Today I finally, FINALLY, took it all to Goodwill. And frankly, the trip wasn’t terrible.
No one gave me the stink eye for dropping off three bags worth of stuff. And why yes I did worry that I would be judged for brining too much. No one even raised an eyebrow when I returned from my trunk with more items in boxes. And yes, I worried boxes were inappropriate containers for dropping things off at Goodwill and procrastinated because I didn’t want a lecture on how things should be properly donated. I think I have a problem.
Or had a problem.
Another item crossed off the list.
